The natural solution for chronic pain
The biomechanical posture correction works on the (re)establishment of a healthy body posture and the associated appropriate mobility in all joints.
This is not yoga, but rather a scientific method developed primarily by the Postural Restoration Institute® in the USA, incorporating influences from various therapy approaches (craniosacral, spiral dynamics, somatic experiencing, etc.).
In the treatment of physical symptoms, this method is particularly effective for chronic back, neck, knee, shoulder and jaw pain or headaches, also when combined with traditional physiotherapy, psychotherapy, or conventional medical approaches.
Example: in this Video I explain why postural restoration is helpful to release TMJ Dysfunction:

During an individual assessment, asymmetries and deviations in skeletal alignment are identified and corrected through specific exercises. The primary focus of biomechanical posture correction is aligning the bones in combination with precise contraction and/or stretching of specific muscles.
The exercises aim to realign the skeleton and create new neural connections to integrate the new posture into daily life and balance the central nervous system. By building muscle and reorienting bones and joints, the load on individual bones is altered, allowing for a permanent adaptation of the bones (Wolff's law). A typical example are the lower leg bones that curve outward initially but can be straightened again.

My aim is to provide to as many people as possible the knowledge and techniques to free themselves from chronic pain and achieve a consistently higher quality of life. If you have any questions or find that the listed rates are not affordable based on your current income, please feel free to contact me so that we can find an alternative solution (such as a combination of group yoga sessions with a few individual exercises afterwards, providing video materials for self-practice, etc.).
Frequently Asked Questions
Who benefits from postural correction?
Everyone since posture correction is a a preventive measure against future physical problems But I primarily work with people who have chronic pain, visible postural abnormalities, or restricted movement. In this case, the effect can be felt directly.
How many sessions do I need?
This will depend on your symptoms, your body's reactivity, and your personal preferences. For some, a single assessment with 2-3 exercises during the initial consultation is sufficient to get immediate progress. In most cases, scheduling at least 4-5 sessions is more efficient, because the exercises are very technical and need to be performed correctly. Based on experience, most people require multiple guided repetitions and inquiries about their body awareness before they reliably know how to perform the exercises effectively.
Some clients take sessions for months or years on a weekly or bi-monthly basis. This assures a conitnuity to help the body to adapt the new posture.
Is this physiotherapy?
No. Biomechanical posture correction is not physiotherapy in the classical sense, as I am not a trained physiotherapist. However, especially in America, the use of this method is established by the "Postural Restoration Institute" in some physiotherapy practices. In Europe there are very few therapists, fitness trainers or practitioners of this method.
Unlike most physiotherapies that specifically target symptoms, biomechanical posture correction works with the entire body. This means that while most of my clients initially contact me due to specific symptoms, improvements can be observed on many levels (physical, emotional, sleep quality, balance) throughout the course of our work.
What do I need for the biomechanical posture correction?
- Comfortable clothing that allows free movement (shorts are welcome)
- Floor space for lying down
- Wall space for leaning, placing hands or feet
- 1 small pillow (e.g. sofa pillow)
- 1-2 yoga blocks (alternatively: books, lunch boxes)
- Socks, in case it is too cold to be barefoot
- For online sessions: PC or tablet with stable internet access and a functioning camera & microphone
What happens during the assessment consultation?
The initial consultation consists of 4 parts, both for online and offline sessions:
- Visual assessment: I observe your overall body posture (e.g., shoulder height, center of gravity, spinal curves, foot and ankle structure) while standing, as well as the individual bone alignment of your legs, foot pronation ability, and your posture in specific positions (e.g. squat/forward bend).
- Mobility tests: We perform a series of tests in which you slowly move specific body parts (arms, legs) in controlled motions in a certain way. This allows me to assess your range of motion and your body's compensation mechanisms for overcoming movement restrictions.
- Discussion: We discuss your results, and you can ask questions. I aim to explain the connection between the various limitations and misalignments and your symptoms.
- Initial correction exercises: Depending on the complexity of your complaints, we usually have time for 1-3 initial exercises.
What happens during the exercise sessions?
After a brief relaxation in a comfortable position chosen according to your needs, we work on your individual exercise program. It may occasionally be really challenging, but keep in mind that this is postural correction and not a workout. Prepare yourself to activate muscles that you don't typically use in daily life or familiar fitness exercises. We work very precisely and often asymmetrically, always mindful of maintaining deep diaphragmatic breathing to ensure that you don't tense other parts of your body while practicing.
Is posture correction derived from yoga?
No. The exercises in biomechanical posture correction are very different from yoga poses. Occasionally, if it is relevant, I incorporate a few yoga positions into the exercise sessions. However, biomechanical posture correction often goes against what is commonly known in yoga. or example, many yoga positions focus on external rotation and abduction ("hip opening") in the hip joint. This is only beneficial for a few people. True improvement in hip mobility usually requires internal rotation. Due to our sedentary culture, stress, and traumas, most people are already stuck in muscle tensions associated with external rotation. As a result, there is no further room for outward movement. Consequently, many people (especially yoga practitioners) mistakenly believe that they should practice more "hip openers," when in fact they should restore their "neutral" position to achieve a greater range of movement both inward and outward.
Do I have to do the preliminary interview or can I book the assessment directly?
You are welcome to book your assessment directly. The preliminary talk is just an offer on my part so that you can get to know me a little and ask me questions before you book for a fee. You can also send me questions in advance by email to contact@devaduta-yoga.com
What should I do if I'm not sure if postural correction is suitable for me?
It's best to book a free 20-minute preliminary consultation or send me an email to contact@devaduta-yoga.com. We can then discuss in more detail whether biomechanical posture correction is suitable for you.
Is postural correction a medical treatment?
No, it is not a medical treatment. Please consult a doctor for acute pain. Postural correction is a private service and not a medical advice.
How quickly will my symptoms improve?
Unfortunately, there is no uniform answer to this question. Sometimes clients feel an immediate improvement during the exercises, which we then consolidate over time. However, similar to homeopathic treatment, there may also initially be a worsening. This is particularly common when there are strong asymmetries or tensions in the body. The body initially resists the new and unfamiliar demands. This phase may occur for a few hours or days after the session. However, sometimes it can be a trend that lasts for weeks or even months before permanent relief occurs. If you have concerns, please feel free to discuss them with me.
